Self-Examination: Very Ending of the GLPS

4 weeks camp is almost all passed now.
Sometimes I felt happy, sometimes I felt sad.
Sometimes I was excited and sometimes I was exhausted.
But It is sure that it was an unforgettable moment in my whole life.
I remember that I wrote and posted my 30-days goal (My 2nd posting in the blog)
Today, I am going to check if I did it well, and reflect myself.

Improving English

In the 30-days goal posting, 

I've mentioned that I'll study 2 own books everyday, and do my best in the class. 

How was the result?

I think it was a half success.

I made a huge effort in every class. Therefore, I received plenty of green cards :)

However, I failed to study 2 books a day. 

In fact, sometimes I skipped all the books...

Perhaps it is because I had a lot of homework to do.

So far, I don't know if my English speaking ability is improved.

To know oneself is the hardest thing. 

My parents and teachers will notice how much I advanced here.

Losing Weight

My second goal was to lose my weight.

Before I start it, I'll first tell you that I didn't have weighing machine here, 

so it was hard to measure...

By the way, I decided to run the track every morning at 6 o'clock, 

and eat only half than I want. 

I'm sure that I achieved to eat less here. I ate much smaller amount of food than I had eaten at home. 

Not only changing my diet, but also I did some exercise.

I tried to go jogging every morning. I succeed 11 times, and just slept 12 times.

It is not failure... but I can't call it a complete success.

Maybe it was proper amount of exercising for me.

Before I came here, I've never done extra exercise except PE class.

I needed a time to get used to it.

As I said, I have no idea how much weight I lost. However, when I met my family on Sunday of the 2nd week, they said that I look much thinner! Also, I compared my pictures each was taken before the camp and during the camp. I looked quite different.

I think I lost at least 3kgs here. I'll check it when I return to my house.

Here, I thought that exercising everyday will make me healthy and more active,

so although I go back home, I won't stop jogging. I'll keep exercise and reduce food.

Experiencing KMLA

I'm still eager to enter KMLA, and I'll always be.

At first, I said I want to be familiar with KMLA by using the library once a week.

But in second thought, I realized that it was not that necessary.

I already know almost every facilities and ways in KMLA minutely.

as the second aim, I mentioned being closer to PAs, TAs, and teachers.

I also think I'm much more familiar with them.

My room PA left on Sunday of the 2nd week. he gave us his phone number and Facebook account so that we can contact with him after the camp.

I'll miss all of them a lot. Therefore, I achieved this goal, too.

I thought time will go very slowly at first.

By time passed, I knew that it was far shorter than I expected.

It was only a 28-day camp...

3 days later, maybe I'll go back to the ordinary life in my hometown.

I'll go to school. I'll study for test.

But it must be quite different from before,

 because I experienced the greatest opportunity to improve myself.

I was really happy to learn things, meet people 

and convince myself of my goals.

I'll never forget anything or anyone.

Good bye, GLPS! Good bye, KMLA!

When I first heard we are going to write a poetry, I was really surprised and thought it must be a hard work. However, It was a quite fun work and it stimulated my creativity!

Photo Essay - The Most Wonderful Moments

Times in GLPS are really going fast nowadays.

I wanted to remember all the things here, not only remarkable moments,

but also some trivial affairs. 

Therefore, I took some pictures of my daily life everyday.

It must be useful when I want to recall the memories here after the camp. 

8/5 Monday, My desk

This is a picture of my desk.
I'm always studying here except 2nd self-studying time.
You can see a bright desk lamp, notebooks, and pencil case.
It isn't in the picture, but I attached my own time table on the right side of the desk.
It reminds me to exercise everyday and make an effort everyday.

8/6 Tuesday, My roommates

These are my roommates.
All of them are kind and humorous.
I was able to bear hardships here because of them.
We always cooperate with each other.
I learned a lot of things from them.

8/7 Wednesday, Presentation script

I was selected as a representative of the presentation competition!
I decided to use my previous presentation topic, the Holy Grail.

So I practiced hard to do my best on the contest.

I tried to memorize the whole script by Saturday.

8/8 Thursday, Golf class

I played golf at the golf range for 2 hours.

Boy in the picture is my roommate, and he is in the same golf class with me.
He is really good at golf!
I was making an effort to play it better.
Finally, I hit the wall of the range! Golf is a very exciting sport.

8/9 Friday, Bug in Dasan building

I found a big insect on the stairs of Dasan building.

It is quite unusual in cities. But in KMLA, I can often see unique bugs and

wild animals such as stick bug, or wild rabbit.

It proves that the environment here is much better than any other cities!

8/10 Saturday, classroom

This is the national flag of Republic of Korea, which is called 태극기(Taeguk-gi).

In KMLA, having a national pride is a very important educational philosophy.

Therefore, all of the class have our national flag above the white board.

The school say that English is a way to globalize the culture of Korea.

I strongly agree to this.

8/11 Sunday, Dormitory at 6:30

I am going out of the dormitory every morning to do some regular exercises.
I usually start to run around the track at 6:10, and finish at 6:30.
When I was coming back to the dormitory, I was impressed with the empty school
in the very early time. It seemed like only I was left in the school.
So I took a picture of the scenery of the school, which was really silent.

These were my most common, but the most wonderful moments in GLPS.

I will take more pictures so that I can remember everyone and everything.

Creative Writing - The Mechanical World 2184

In 2084, People's extremely strong desire of development of technology made robots very clever. Robots were so smart that they knew emotions of human. They felt angry to obey people's orders. Finally, they started a battle against human and win. Since then, The Mechanical World which is under robot's control started.





President of the Mechanical World was a super computer called 'John'.

John controlled everything of the entire world. All of the robots did anything he commanded. Although robots lived a convenient life under his rules, humans were suffering from the hard works. After robot's revolution, very few humans survived and they have been trapped in a area of human. People in the area were the only survivors. The space was very narrow, and people were suffering from hard works. They made and fixed some parts of robots all day long. However, they got neither salary nor food. the least required nutrient for work was supplied by pills. Robots treated humans very cruelly. as soon as they were born, they were taken apart with their parents and couldn't know their family.

100 years passed, but the mechanical world and John was still strong.

 Peoples did not have their names. they were identified by numeral codes, such as 12345.
A young man called 61588, was eager to escape the area of human and know his real name. When he was a child, he heard a story about people's world that existed long time ago. He imagined about the world with no robots and no John. He wanted a freedom.

 61588 finally decided to start a revolution against robots, like the robots did it a century ago. He secretly persuaded people to join the revolution, and most of them accepted.
thousands of people helped him. He lead the preparation of revolution really carefully but rapidly. People stole some parts given to them, and combined it to make weapons. A week later, people started the attack.

 They had a intensive fight with the robots which were managing the area of human. Though almost half of people died during the fight, they succeeded to escape the area.
Also they made stronger weapons with the broken robots' parts.

When they came out, they saw the reality that they have never seen. Nothing alive, but only machines and robots existed. It was cold, and blue. Sky was covered with a wild roof made out of metal. It was to prevent damages of machines cause by sun. However, lack of sunlight made all the creatures die. Humans were afraid to face the reality, and a lot of people chose to go back or obey the robot. 61588 and only hundreds of people kept their faith.

 61588 didn't gave up hope. they marched to John and fought again and again with robots. The more they fought with robots, the more they gained power and stronger weapons. However, there were too much sacrifices during the battles. When the revolution finally reached to the government, only several human including 61588 has survived. They were the last living things on the Earth.

 61588 opened the door, and saw an enormous room filled with machines. John was working with a big noise. Humans prepared for the attack of John, but nothing happened.
They carefully moved inside. When they arrived to the deepest place of the room, they could easily find the switch of the John. If 61588 just turn it off, John would stop and world they wanted would come true. 61588, still was cautious, slowly reached his hand to the switch. Then suddenly, an ambiguous voice came out from John. John was talking to 61588.

"Why are you here?" said John, in a mechanical, strained voice.
"To get freedom!" 61588 yelled.

"What is freedom?"

"Freedom is our right to be ourselves!"

"Yourselves... Why do you think you weren't yourselves in the human area?"

"Because everything was restricted by you, machines!"

".......Poor human....... You even don't know how lucky you are. All the other creatures have died. We treated you with a mercy."

"Stop lying! We were the owner of the Earth, and robots were our creations!"

"You are the one who is lying. Humans work for robots, and always did. Your father did.
Your grandfather did. How can you be sure that there was a world of human 100 years ago?"

"That's...!"

"It is in your dream. Do you think you really have your real name? poor 61588. Your real name is 61588. Why are you denying the reality in front of your eyes?"

"............"

After that, 61588's peers lost their faith. They knelt down in front of John. Only 61588 was standing, but he also hesitated.

"Robots are clever. Robots can always make the best decisions in all the situations. However, humans are not perfect. You are handled by their emotions, and make some mistakes. Why don't you just live happily under our protection?"

Silence hung over the room for a few minutes.
Then, 61588 eventually said..........

Movie Review - The Princess Bride

<The Princess Bride> is a romantic, fantasy, comedy movie released in 1987 by Rob Reiner.

There were a lot of characters such as Westley, Buttercup,
Prince Humperdinck, and the thieves consisting of Spaniard(Inigo) and Giant(Fezzik). Especially, Inigo was a very interesting character. His father was killed by an anonymous six-fingered man, and he was trying to find him and revenge.

The whole story of this movie was a content of the book. Grandfather read the book to his sick grandson, and the movie started with a scene of a peaceful farm.

Westley, a farm boy of Buttercup fell in love with her, and she also loved him. Westley went to the sea to earn money for marriage, but he didn't come back. She waited and waited, and 5 years later, she went to the kingdom to marry the prince Humperdinck. However, the prince did not love her at all. His plan was killing her and blaming others, so that he found a reason to start a war. Therefore, he hired the thieves to kidnap Buttercup in the forest of thieves.

When the thieves and Buttercup arrived to the cliff of insanity, suddenly a man in black appeared. He defeated Inigo, the Spanish fencer and Fezzik, the giant. Finally, he rescued Buttercup and he turned out to be Westley. They escaped there through the fire swamp, but Humperdinck's army was waiting for them. Buttercup returned to the kingdom again, and Westley was taken away to the pit of despair.

Meanwhile, Inigo and Fezzik who lost their job, heard the rumor of Westley. He was already dead when they found him, but they visited Miracle Max and saved him with the magic bean. They headed to the kingdom and rescued Buttercup just before the marriage. Inigo also succeed to revenge to the six-fingered man, count Rugen.
The ending of the movie was a scene of Westley, Buttercup, Inigo and Fezzik riding horses and disappearing into the sun.

The movie was old but story and characters were very nice. I loved all the characters appeared in the movie. Story was typical but it was pretty interesting too. but only thing that was little funny was the situations happening accidentally. It was hard to understand how could Westley find Buttercup.

Humors in the movie made the movie much enjoyable. In some serious scenes such as the scene of shrieking eels or kissing scenes, the sick boy appeared and made me laugh.

In the movie, I could get a lesson that we always have to love others, and live kindly. Westley and his friends seemed to have a tough journey to save Buttercup, but at last,
they were the winners. Prince Humperdinck proved that bad person will fail someday.
This is the unchangeable truth of our life.


As a GLPS student, I found some leadership skills in this movie, too.
In the struggles of Westley to save Buttercup, I noticed that love is very important idea to lead people. Therefore, I'll try to treat others in love as Westley in the story did.

In conclusion, I would like to give 5 out of 10. Not very wonderful, but it was a fun movie.
